When asked how Tom got into designing ornaments, he related that he was in Poland looking at ornaments and couldn't find anything he wanted to put on his Christmas tree so he decided to design his own.

He not only designed the ornaments he also learned how to make them. He stayed in Poland and learned how to blow glass.

 He went onto developing unusual colors and a unique way of using glitter so that it was part of the ornament design, not just applied on top of the design. With the assistance of his partner, Jim Maccardell, the first collection was born in 2002.
